Facts about me
I'm terrible at naming things. As a child I named my guinea pigs Ginny and Piggy. My sister banned me from naming our cats.
In high school a friend invited me to watch the director's cut of The Lord of the Rings trilogy back to back. It was 12 hours. I haven't touched anything LOTR again since. I also didn't like Tolkien's writing style, so I got through the books by reading the first and last sentences of every paragraph (I know, it's blasphemous).
I drink fast, so I prefer hot beverages, which I have to sip.
My most searched keyword is "define," followed by whatever word I'm looking up.
I have eight piercings now but once had 15. I have no tattoos.
Pedantry amuses me, so I read Wikipedia talk pages sometimes.
My favorite makeup is lip color, followed by nail polish. (My favorite color for both is carmine, a bright cool red.)
I need subtitles. When I don't have subtitles, I turn the volume up thinking it will help, but it never does.
I used to feel uncultured for not liking documentaries. But considering the state of documentaries these days, I am comfortable with not liking them now.
My favorite Pokémon is Clefairy, which I use as an avatar. I played the Red Version.
No matter how hard I try, I still prefer print books. I buy them used, and I like seeing what prior readers have scribbled into them.
Tofu, eggplant, and zucchini are among my favorite foods. Also, potato tacos.
I leave many cups around the home, each with a little water left inside.
A colleague said I reminded her of Sloan Sabbith. I felt flattered.
In college I designed band posters for the indie student radio station. Someone liked my posters and gave me my first job; this is how I started the career I'm in today.
I do not know fork & knife etiquette.
My favorite music decade is the 80s.
I do not like watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts. I like reading long-form features.
I am an extra fine point pen user. A friend gifted me dozens of Muji .38mm pens more than a decade ago, and I'm still using them.
I have a continuous internal monologue. Sometimes it's a dialogue: my inner voice speaks to an imagined person, and the imagined person speaks back. Sometimes it leaks out, and I talk to myself.
I like my coffee weak, milky, and sweet. Which is to say, I don't like coffee at all (I love how it smells, but not how it tastes). I'm a tea person.
I enjoy a small collection of vintage yellow gold jewelry, which includes a large rose-cut diamond ring from my mother-in-law. (She received it as a gift from a suitor. Annoyed by his pushiness, she rejected him but kept his ring. Now it's mine.)
I can't do horror. I stopped watching horror films when I was 14 because they gave me nightmares for weeks.
I reincarnate weekly, forgetting the week before. It's great because I move on from grievances quickly, but awful because I never learn.
I play open world-survival-sandbox-crafting-base building games. I enjoy organizing the loot chests.
I've used the same desktop wallpaper, a purple nebula, for more than a decade. It's on all my devices, personal and work.
I have more than 100 alarms on my phone, at nearly every time. Instead of setting a time manually, I pick from my list. And if a time isn't on the list, I add it.
