Happenings
The holidays have quietly come and gone. After many days of sleeping in, I am feeling much more rested.
Libraries (and Libby) are pretty cool. As we traveled through towns visiting libraries and applying for cards,1 we thought we might enjoy working as librarians.2
I thought we were done with the bathtub debacle, but the overflow drain is not flush against the tub (it leaks).
Time to call the plumber again.
Reading
Tower of Babylon by Ted Chiang
Understand by Ted Chiang
Division by Zero by Ted Chiang
After a long while of not reading fiction, I've discovered that I'm easily distracted. I can hear the water in the pipes, the traffic outside — sounds I normally would give no attention to — and then I have to reread the same paragraph multiple times. I'm displeased with this discovery; I suspect it's because I'm out of practice. Time to read more.
Listening
Noam Williamson – Tranquility — I'd learn to play the piano again just to play this.
Thinking
I was telling E how reading the blogs of 20-somethings is so fun because they're exploring and figuring things out; they write such thoughtful posts as they navigate their relationships and experiences. I mentioned that I felt so "settled." He responded, "Your problem is that you're a comfortable turtle." But I like being a comfortable turtle. 🐢
