Happenings
- Josh Johnson was in town and we went to see him perform. This was my face the entire set: 😂. Laugh-crying is very inconvenient. So many tears to manage.
Tinkering
- I've had the Tech Independence guide bookmarked for a while now and finally got to it this week. I waited so long because this sort of thing feels so unapproachable; I know nothing and wasn't sure I could troubleshoot if I ran into issues (I destroyed the server five times while trying to get through the instructions). I learned how to modify a shell script for this! Me right now.1
Reading
Bartleby, the Scrivener by Herman Melville — I was feeling rebellious.
I browsed Project Gutenberg's frequently downloaded books and was surprised to see Simple Sabotage Field Manual by the U.S. Office of Strategic Services listed as #1. In my curiosity, I gave it a look... I learned more about starting fires than I intended, and my soul hurt a little while reading section (11) General Interference with Organizations and Production.
I've been using News Minimalist for six months now and recently subscribed via RSS. I wanted to reduce my news intake, but also stay up to date on significant happenings. I appreciate the way it scores significance, especially this detail: "[Positivity] makes a huge difference in the 5+ range: without it, this range mostly consists of news about wars and natural disasters. With it, it has more scientific discoveries and tech advancements."
Listening, gaming
Monster Hunter: Wilds beta – I fumbled through the entire intro tutorial and was mortified to learn that the other characters in my party were real humans and not NPCs. 😱
Hogwarts Legacy — I kind of regret being a Hufflepuff. Ochre is so not my color.
