Happenings
Ate a lot of avocado + egg toasts. So delicious! 🥑
I woke up on Saturday and noticed the state of my home. I was displeased, so I went scorched-earth. I reorganized + cleaned everything. (Of course, I overdid it and my back was unhappy...)
So I spent all of Sunday in bed reading webcomics.
Tinkering
I was in File Browser cave all week; I'm happy to reemerge into the world. 🌞 This one was challenging. Stephen also set up his server, and we've been exchanging emails. I shared that for both Syncthing and Miniflux, many steps are taken care of for us in the packages: creating the daemon users, assigning the right permissions, putting the config files in the right places, writing the service scripts so that the apps run persistently. For File Browser, there is no package, and so we learn to do it all manually. "Type 2 fun," indeed — but it's how I roll.1 🙃
Updated my notes for Miniflux and Syncthing now that I have learned a little more.
I've been nervous about security, so my latest focus has been learning about reverse proxies & firewalls. Both are already set up on the server from the Tech Independence script, but I'll feel more comfortable when I better understand their why & how — and seeing what more I can do (if anything).
Reading
- Weeks ago, I joined the Libby waitlist for Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin because Ophelia wrote so fondly about it. The book just became available for borrowing, and I'm looking forward to spending time with it this week.
